About PicFair
PicFair is a photography marketplace that was launched by Benji Lanyad in 2013. Now is used over 150,000 photographers worldwide, and here's a bit of why I chose PicFair over other stock image sites.
The main reason I like PicFair is because it makes selling my photography as easy and secure as it should be, for both the customers and me. As a photographer, I get my own store to sell my images digitally (or even printed); and they manage the rest accordingly to the buyer needs (editorial, personal, and/or commercial licenses), making sure the transaction is successful. They have almost a decade of experience and very good reviews, so we know they can handle it well.
Some of their frequent image buyers are Google, Ogilvy, Nat Geo, Rough Guides, The Guardian; all of them are highly recognized in the industry, which give us an extra sense of trust in their service, as working with them means they're at their level of professionalism. It also gives my photography the opportunity to gain exposure in a marketplace outside my network.
Something I appreciate is how things are managed, as it is a small team business, we can contact to them directly, and they take our suggestions seriously and personally. They also know the PicFair community well and care about us, liking and sharing our pictures, promoting our work; in a sense they're not only offering a service, it feels like a partnership.
PicFair lets photographers set their pictures prices, adding only a 20% extra, that is something hardly seen anywhere else; usually agencies take up to the 75%. One of the founder dreams was precisely to change the unfairness in the image market, and this is one of the things I appreciate the most, and that makes me feel honored of being part of such a change.
